A couture gown consists of a toile - a calico mock-up of your dress pattern fitted to your body and about three fittings thereafter. Neil Cunningham will be present for the dress fittings and he inspects every dress before it leaves his workrooms.

Neil Cunningham's bridal wear designs share the key elements of shape and cut that define his couture eveningwear. Choose a deceptively simple strapless column in bias cut zibilene, a stately A- Line in Silk Faille or a silver beaded lace empire line show stopper. Grandeur is always tempered by understatement and detail is kept to a minimum.

Prices for couture bridalwear start at £2,750 for a bias satin sheath. Corseted formal wedding gowns range from £3,995 to £5000 with many styles at £4,500 price points. Lace and beaded bridal gowns start from £5,000 Custom made wedding dress styles from £8,000.

Melanie Potro Bridal Couture Bridal Shop in Clerkenwell London EC1 provides exclusive made-to-measure designer wedding dresses and bridal couture specialising in bridal corsetry and 1930s style wedding dresses.

Choosing a wedding dress should be an exciting and enjoyable journey. When you come to our studio in central London, you may already have a fully-formed idea of your dream wedding dress; or, you may have no preconceptions and wish to explore the many and varied options.

Once you have settled on a bridal design and we have completed our sketches, we will take your measurements. We will then make a "toile" (a dress made from cotton calico or a fabric similar to the one we use for your wedding dress) for the first fitting. We will only begin making the actual wedding dress when the "toile" fits perfectly and we have determined all important lines (e.g. neckline etc)

Many brides opt for a wedding dress from our current bridal wear collection. Occasionally, brides like to give their dress an individual twist - for example, by varying the colour, or choice of fabric and accessories.

Should you wish to bring your own dream dress to life, you should discuss your bridal design ideas with Melanie or one of her assistants before or at your first appointment. Ideally, you should bring along your sketches or anything else that has inspired you.

Bespoke wedding dresses range from £1200 to £2,800. Dresses from our collection range from £900 to £2500.

The price of a bespoke wedding dress is dependent upon several variables: the style and construction of the dress, the fabrics, the labour, and the degree of customisation. For example, if you want your dress partially embroidered, this will cost more. Certain materials such as beaded fabrics are also more difficult to handle and, correspondingly, more time and attention will be needed to make the dress.

Melanie's speciality - a lasting legacy of her work with renowned German costume makers Das Gewand, for the likes of the Bolshoi Theatre and Royal Opera House - is corsetry. Providing support and comfort for fuller figures and adding curves for boyish silhouettes, her corset gowns - and others with hidden corsets incorporated into the design, are created through a thorough knowledge of historical costume (always an interesting talking point) and the intricacies of manufacture involved.

Her collection, in particular the Siena, Amiens and Chaville gowns, echo this easy, glamorous mood. Fabrics flow as they skim over the body, the slim-fitting cut accentuating a woman's body - a seductive, feminine style that perfectly suits the modern bride, whose style sensibility draws her towards less-than-traditional white wedding conventions.

The Ade Bakare Bridal label is now synonymous with elegance, refined modern glamour. Over the years since 1993, when Ade Bakare launched the bridal range the clients list has grown to cover most continents such as Europe, North America, France and Asia.

The label uses natural silk fabrics such as Duchess satins, chiffons, organza's, zebeline and gazar Lace Damask and brocades also feature. Some key pieces are the long organza coats with corset and mermaid fitted skirts. In zebeline (French dupion) sweep coats made in silk gazar with inlaid pattern of flowers, these are worn with Halter neck fitted dresses or for the truly modern bride, trousers made in silk crepe from Como, Italy.

Traditional bridal gowns, 'A' line, others with empire line and off the shoulder feature prominently, made in laces and duchess satin. For the registry bride we offer pea jackets in gazer with short 'A' line chiffon skirts, slightly beaded. Suits made in Luxe brocades, Jackets in damask with silk crepe trousers, very modern, very glamorous, very Ade Bakare couture.

The style of the collection has a modern edge very geometric and functional influences such as architecture, interior design and ethnic embellishment are some of the main themes behind the collections. As such it appeals to the modern bride who is confident and yet still retains a feminine allure.

Christina Marty graduated in Fashion Design in 1992 with a 1st class BA Hons. Christiana Couture was launched in 1995 and in 1997 Christina was awarded the British Bridal New Designer of the Year award. She was a finalist in 1998 and 1999 and in 2000 she won the Full Romantic British Bridal Award.

Today, Christina continues to see all the couture clients at her showroom in central London as well as designing two bridal collections each year.

The signature look at Christiana Couture is a delicately feminine and sophisticated wedding gown, cut in luxurious high quality silks with bespoke embroideries and hand beading. For a perfect fit and intricate hand finished detail, brides attend at least four fittings with the designer, Christina Marty and her team.

Winner of numerous fashion awards, Christina guides each bride through the couture experience assisting with hair accessories, lingerie styles and wedding shoes.

The collection includes, amongst many others, this selection of gowns, which are available in a wide variety of fabrics, colours, trims, necklines and sleeve combinations.

Our gold service is available for some of the less structured couture gowns. This gives the bride the option of having her gown made to order with one fitting.

Designs range from the signature bias cut gown through to fuller romantic silhouettes. Brides are welcomed at the London showroom by appointment. The couture collection is available exclusively at the Designer's showroom in central London.

After twelve years at the helm of Christiana Couture, the Designer Christina Marty, has closed the doors of her London Couture showroom, while she takes time out to be with her young family. Christina and her husband adopted their beautiful twin daughters from China when the girls were 14 months old and Christina naturally wants to spend more quality time with Tia Lily and Jasmine during these precious early years. But her passion for fashion and glamour means that she won’t be away from the bridal wear business for too long.

Christina has always been renowned for designing exquisitely feminine and sophisticated wedding gowns mixing contemporary and vintage feels in luxurious silks with bespoke embroideries and intricate hand beading.
